Cupping or Hijama is an ancient Chinese and Arabic therapy for many illnesses by applying vacuum stimulation to certain points of the body, causing a local tissue congestion, in which a healing effect takes place.
Cupping has been found to affect the body up to four inches into tissue, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages, help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, activate the skin, clear stretch marks and improve varicose veins. Cupping is the best deep tissue massage available. Cupping, the technique, is very useful and very safe.
Cupping with bloodletting or “Hijama” (Arab name) is more popular in recent years. A small amount of blood out from certain points could be much more effective to improve blood stasis and energy stagnation which are thought to be a modern illness. Both Arab and Chinese Doctors believe the two points (Chinese name ‘GE SHU’, which is a point for blood gathering) beside the spine, under the scapular are most important for general body Energy and Blood circulation.
“Hijama” is recommended to do with time of the moon moving, regular bases with seasons. A complete skin disinfection and disposable cups are required.
